A fairly good episode with some pluses. Kent Smith, in his 2nd OL, plays an alien who returns to Earth to retrieve his son and several others spawned by his race. The transformations are handled quite well, and there are a few nice photographic touches. It’s fun hearing the Martian death ray from “WAR OF THE WORLDS”. Later, it would become one of the most re-cycled sound effects in cartoons and films. But at this point in time, the Byron Haskin connection probably made it available to OL. Kent does a nice job as papa, and the rest of the cast is adequate. But the ep is more noteworthy for an appearance by Dabbs Greer, the wonderful character actor whose name wasn’t well known, but whose face was. He appeared in countless films and TV shows for decades and just passed away this past April at age 90. He continually worked until he was 86. You surely remember him from films like “IT, THE TERROR FROM BEYOND SPACE”, “INVASION OF THE BODY SNATCHERS” & “HOUSE OF WAX. He was also the preacher on TV’s “LITTLE HOUSE ON THE PRARIE”.
The opening teaser is always fun to watch, with Kent creeping out of the brush to wave down the police car and cause mayhem. Again, a good ep, but not usually listed as a greatest hit.
