With all the free streaming music sites out there, thought it might be fun to have a thread where we could share some favorite tunes. In another post, DK mentioned www.pandora.com and I brought up www.radioblogclub.com Both are free and pretty cool. I'm more familiar with radioblogclub and have an account there. I see I can put direct links to songs so others can listen without even registering.

Feel free to share what you want in this thread, and I'll throw some in from time to time.

To kick it off, here's an old favorite of mine from David Bowie circa 1973:
From the album Aladdin Sane => Panic in Detroit
Image
Ah oooh
He looked a lot like Che Guevara, drove a diesel van
Kept his gun in quiet seclusion, such a humble man
The only survivor of the National People's Gang
Panic in Detroit, I asked for an autograph
He wanted to stay home, I wish someone would phone
Panic in Detroit (oh oh oh aahh, oh oh oh aahh)

He laughed at accidental sirens that broke the evening gloom
The police had warned of repercussions
They followed none too soon
A trickle of strangers were all that were left alive
Panic in Detroit, I asked for an autograph
He wanted to stay home, I wish someone would phone
Panic in Detroit (oh oh oh aahh, ah ah ah aahh)

Putting on some clothes I made my way to school
(oh oh oh)
And I found my teacher crouching in his overalls
I screamed and ran to smash my favourite slot machine (oh oh oh)
And jumped the silent cars that slept at traffic lights

Having scored a trillion dollars, made a run back home
Found him slumped across the table. A gun and me alone
I ran to the window. Looked for a plane or two
Panic in Detroit. He'd left me an autograph
"Let me collect dust." I wish someone would phone
Panic in Detroit
Panic in Detroit
Panic in Detroit
Aoo

Emerson, Lake & Palmer - "From the Beginning"

Postby Lunkhead on March 7th, 2007, 10:13 pm

Here's one for DK:
A nice, live version of Emerson, Lake & Palmer's From the Beginning
Image
There might have been things I missed
But dont be unkind
It dont mean Im blind
Perhaps theres a thing or two

I think of lying in bed
I shouldnt have said
But there it is

You see its all clear
You were meant to be here
From the beginning

Maybe I might have changed
And not been so cruel
Not been such a fool
Whatever was done is done
I just cant recall
It doesnt matter at all

You see its all clear
You were meant to be here
From the beginning

Stray Cats - "Stray Cat Strut"

Postby Lunkhead on March 7th, 2007, 10:32 pm

And for Xenorama,
Stray Cats doing the Stray Cat Strut
Image
Oooh, Oooh, Oooh, Oooh,
Black and orange stray cat sittin' on a fence
Ain't got enough dough to pay the rent
I'm flat broke but I don't care
I strut right by with my tail in the air

Stray cat strut, I'm a ladies' cat,
A feline Casanova, hey man, thats where its at
Get a shoe thrown at me from a mean old man
Get my dinner from a garbage can

Yeah don't cross my path

I don't bother chasing mice around
I slink down the alley looking for a fight
Howling to the moonlight on a hot summer night
Singin' the blues while the lady cats cry,
"Wild stray cat, you're a real gone guy."

I wish I could be as carefree and wild,
but I got cat class and I got cat style.

Iggy Pop & the Stooges - "Search and Destroy"

Postby Lunkhead on March 7th, 2007, 10:52 pm

And for Wilytank:
Iggy Pop & the Stooges - Search and Destroy
Image
Im a street walking cheetah with a heart full of napalm
Im a runaway son of the nuclear a-bomb
I am a worlds forgotten boy
The one who searches and destroys

Honey gotta help me please
Somebody gotta save my soul
Baby detonate for me

Look out honey, cause Im using technology
Aint got time to make no apology
Soul radiation in the dead of night
Love in the middle of a fire fight

Honey gotta strike me blind
Somebody gotta save my soul
Baby penerate my mind

And Im the worlds forgotten boy
The one whos searchin, searchin to destroy
And honey Im the worlds forgotten boyt
The one whos searchin, searchin to destroy

Forgotten boy, forgotten boy
Forgotten boy said hey forgotten boy

Re: Hanger 18 by Megadeth

Postby Lunkhead on March 10th, 2007, 11:10 am

Not bad. I think my son may have played some Megadeth for me before. I got a kick out of the lyrics for this one:

Hangar 18

Welcome to our fortress tall
Take some time to show you around
Impossible to break these walls
For you see the steel is much too strong
Computer banks to rule the world
Instruments to sight the stars

Possibly I've seen too much
Hangar 18 I know too much.

Foreign life forms inventory
Suspended State of cryogenics
Selective amnesia's the story
Believed foretold but who'd suspect
The military intelligence
Two words combined that can't make sense

Possibly I've seen too much
Hangar 18 I know too much.

Then the really long guitar solo.
With some big riffs then a few bigger riffs then the closing.
